Pioneer Youth Services acknowledges it is situated on the lands within the Haldimand Treaty, a formally ratified agreement acknowledging six miles on either side of the Grand River as treaty territory belonging to Six Nations of the Grand River, within the traditional territories of the Neutral, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples. This territory is within the lands protected by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum, Indigenous citizenship law consisting of 3 basic rules:
1) Take only what you need 2) Leave some for everybody else 3) Keep it clean
We acknowledge the enduring presence, knowledge and philosophies of Indigenous Peoples living here today, and the contributions made in shaping Waterloo Region. We are committed to understanding collective past experiences while celebrating inclusion of Indigenous voices within Pioneer Youth Services, together in mutuality and reciprocity.
