Pioneer Youth Services works in partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board to operate Pine Grove Section School. Our school program offers five classrooms that provide modified curriculum to all students based on their individual needs. The highly supervised, structured setting supports students to reach their academic, social and behavioural goals and facilitates integration to community school for those who are ready.
In addition, Pine Grove values opportunities for life skill development and experiential learning and incorporates these components into the daily curriculum. These programs include but are not limited to:
- Cooking
- Grocery Shopping
- Budgeting
- Social Skills
- Pottery
- Design and Technology
- Stained Glass
- On Site Gymnasium
- Co-op Placements in the Community
- Secondary School Credits Offered
Waterloo Region Public and Catholic school boards also offer many “Life Skills” and “Special Needs” programs within their Secondary School facilities that are available to the residents of Pioneer Youth Services. These programs are designed to provide students with the opportunity for experiential learning, community independence and basic life skills, while incorporating academics, such as language, art and math. All programs are adapted to the students’ individual needs and skill levels.
